Frequently Asked Vehicle Wrap Questions

Frequently Asked Questions...
What is a vehicle wrap?
Simply speaking, a vehicle wrap is a vinyl graphic installed on nearly any type of vehicle. They are used for advertising purposes primarily, but have also been used for complex vehicle decoration.
What would I use a wrap for?
Making Money! You already drive your vehicle and pay a lot for gas. Now you can get that money back by advertising while you drive. Next time you are on the road, count the number of cars you pass and the number of cars that pass you. Each of these cars probably have several people in them. All of these people would see your vehicle advertising. That could be as many at 5,000 to 10,000 people in one day!
If you have a business, non-profit organization or even a club - a vehicle wrap can be a great addition to your current advertising plan. It may even replace your current billboard advertising!
Is their a design charge?
XCom provides professional design services that are included in the price of the vehicle wrap. The design fee is required in advance before we will begin any design work on your job and because each wrap is custom, full payment is due in advance before installation is begun.
Will it be just as good as paint?
In some ways, a vehicle wrap is much better because you can include photos and graphics that cannot be duplicated with paint alone. Keep in mind, there is no such thing as a perfect vehicle wrap. Because the wrap is a vinyl material that goes over the top of the vehicle, there will always be a few small bubbles and wrinkles in the material. In many cases, the warmth of the sun will eliminate some of these over time.
How much and how long?
Pricing is calculated on two important factors. First, how big is the car, truck or van. The size of the car (or the size of the wrap if you don't want a full wrap) will determine the first part of the cost of the wrap. Complex shapes also affect the cost of your wrap. Wrapping a simple box truck takes much less time than wrapping a volkswagon or other similar vehicle with many curves and complex contours. Normally, a full vehicle wrap will cost between $3,000 and $6,000. Partial wraps can be significantly less but still give you an eye-catching design. Give us a call, we would be happy to discuss the price to wrap your vehicle and don't forget to ask about discounts for fleet wraps. The length of time required to wrap your vehicle varies depending on the complexity of the vehicle, however, you should plan on leaving your vehicle with us for 3 to 5 days.
Will you travel to our location to wrap the vehicle?
Yes. Depending on the distance, we can install the vehicle at your location. A nominal travel charge may apply.
Why is there such a big difference in vehicle wrap pricing?
This is a very important question. Many of the companies offering the least expensive wraps available to the market today use substandard materials and don't have a great deal of experience in wrapping vehicles. XCom only uses the best 3M materials and has years of experience in the wrapping industry.
Can I wash my car after it is wrapped?
Yes. However, keep in mind that the vinyl manufacturer recommends only hand washing a vehicle that has been wrapped. Machine washing and power-washing can loosen the vinyl and cause failure.
How long does a vehicle wrap last?
A vehicle wrap normally lasts between 3 and 5 years depending on your evironment. Sun and road dirt are the hardest environmental elements on a vehicle wrap. XCom laminates your vehicle wrap to provide substantial protection from the rays of the sun and dirt and debris from the road.
Will a vehicle wrap damage my vehicle?
No. Vehicle wraps actually provide additional protection to the body and paint. When removed through a simple process, you will find the vehicle underneath well preserved.
